Papermaking Clubs
Taxonomy Code: PS-8200.0550-660
Programs that provide organized opportunities for individuals to pursue their interest in creating and/or using handmade paper, often through the medium of a club or society which is under the leadership of people who are knowledgeable in the subject. Activities may include lectures by people with papermaking expertise; demonstrations of basic techniques; and regular meetings at which members share information about current projects, enjoy the company of other handmade paper enthusiasts and have time to work on their projects. Some papermaking clubs may also provide space for activities, sponsor exhibits or sales of handmade paper or art pieces created by members, publish a newsletter or provide access to a library of resources about the craft. Included are Internet-based virtual clubs, WebRings devoted to the subject and clubs where members meet face-to-face.
